Use Windows Live Writer with Feed.Us
Windows Live Writer is the quick and easy version of Word for feeding content to blogs and websites. It functions similarly to Word, but lets you update your site remotely or save your work for later posting.
We recently added the ability to write posts on Feed.Us using Live Writer via MetaweblogAPI. (You can also use MetaweblogAPI to send posts to Feed.Us from other CMSes. More info later on.)
Also, the most recent version of Office 2007's Word works like Live Writer so you can actually use Word with Feed.Us
Before you start, check out these directions or the video below. You'll need 2 URLs:
http://feed.us/Publishing/PostMgmt.aspx
http://feed.us/Services/MetaWebLog.ashx
1. Download Live Writer and then "run" the program to install it.
2. It will try to get you to install all of the "Live" family of products. You just need "Writer". (Be careful not to get tricked into making Microsoft your default search engine.)
3. Close the installer.
4. Then go to "START" (on your computer) and find the "Windows Live" folder, and choose the "Writer" program.
5. Under the "BLOGS" tab, select "Add Blog Account".
6. Choose the "other blog service" option.
7. The "Web Address for your blog" should be the first URL above (http://stage.feed.us/Publishing/PostMgmt.aspx)
8. Username and password are your Feed.Us username (gjohnson, etc) and password.
9. Resulting page has a dropdown for "Blog Provider". Choose "MetaweblogAPI".
10. Put the second URL into the "remote posting" field. (http://dev.feed.us/Services/MetaWebLog.ashx)
11. You don't need to "detect the theme" so choose "NO".
12. Give it a nickname.
That's it! Remember to choose a category when you post using Live Writer.
To submit/post/etc, choose the "Publish" button in the left-upper corner.
